"My Name Is," a Film About the Jeju 4.3 Incident, Wins Audience Award at Italian Film Festival
Enthusiastic Response at the Udine Far East Film Festival
The production company Let's Film announced on May 4 that director Jung Ji-young's film "My Name Is" received the Audience Award at the Udine Far East Film Festival in Italy.
This work sheds light on the Jeju 4·3 Incident, which occurred after Korea's liberation. It tells the story of an eighteen-year-old boy named Shin Woo-bin, who wishes to abandon the name "Young-ok," and his mother, Jeong-sun (played by Yum Hye-ran).
The film was released on April 15 and attracted over 191,000 viewers as of the day before publication. Relay screenings involving figures from various sectors and ordinary citizens are also being held.

The film had its official screening at the Nuovo Giovanni Theater in Udine on April 29. The Udine Far East Film Festival is the largest film festival in Europe introducing Asian cinema, and the Audience Award is determined by votes from festival attendees.
