The exhibition will feature 34 works by 13 artists who are active in various genres, including Western painting, Korean painting, installation, and media art. The participating artists expand the concept of nature beyond a simple landscape, treating it as an object of sensory experience, memory, and philosophical contemplation, each interpreting it in their own unique way.
The exhibition is structured around three key themes: ‘Garden of Imagination,’ which expands the inner landscape through sensation and memory; ‘Garden of Senses,’ which explores shifts in perception amid media and environment; and ‘Garden of Metaphor,’ which contemplates life and existence through nature.
Highlighted works include ‘Record of Performed Time’ by Kim Sujin, paintings by Noh Eunyoung, ‘Falling Flowers on Flowing Water’ by Yang Honggil, ink wash works by Seolbak, ‘Post-Nature – Gwangju’ by Park Sanghwa, and installation art by Park Aron. In addition, paintings, installations, and media works by Kim Danbi, Kim Myungwoo, Kang Mimi, Kim Jemin, Song Jiyoon, and Jo Seonah will also be on display.
These works reveal the layered meanings of the ‘garden’ through perspectives that traverse sensation and memory, existence and perception.
In particular, the exhibition is curated around the relationships and flows between works, allowing visitors to experience a range of interpretations of nature as they move through each space. This approach aims to offer visitors an opportunity to step away from daily routines and leisurely awaken their senses.
Kim Iltae, Director of Chosun University Museum of Art, stated, “This exhibition was organized to stimulate the sensibilities of visitors through a variety of perspectives on nature, and to expand the experience where art meets everyday life. By linking it with the Rose Festival period, we hope to make the museum more accessible to the public and to foster the museum’s role as a cultural hub that connects with the local community.”
