Chairman Koo Kwang-mo Meets 'AlphaGo' CEO Hassabis to Discuss AI Collaboration

Koo Kwang-mo, Chairman of LG Group, met with Demis Hassabis, CEO of Google DeepMind and the developer of the artificial intelligence (AI) 'AlphaGo', to discuss ways to collaborate in the future AI sector.
According to industry sources on April 28, CEO Hassabis visited the LG Twin Towers in Yeouido, Seoul, for a private luncheon meeting with Chairman Koo on this day. Ryu Jae-cheol, CEO of LG Electronics, and Lee Honglak, Co-Director of LG AI Research, were also reportedly in attendance.
This meeting between Chairman Koo and CEO Hassabis is interpreted as an effort to strengthen the AI partnership between the two companies. Discussions reportedly included ways to integrate LG Electronics' device and home appliance ecosystem with Google DeepMind's AI technology.

At the 'K-Moonshot' project agreement signing ceremony with the Ministry of Science and ICT the previous day, CEO Hassabis emphasized that "Korea's world-class manufacturing capabilities and excellent hardware technology are essential factors for DeepMind's AI models to create value in the real world."
