"You Can't Just Sleep Anywhere" "What Kind of Bed Is Here?"... Scouting Out '8+ Rated Accommodations'
Agoda Reveals Ranking of Accommodation Search Filters
Accommodation Type Filter Accounts for 22% of Usage
"Guest Rating 8+ Excellent" Ranks Second, Preference for Verified Stays
Agoda has released the ranking of the most frequently used accommodation search filters by travelers from South Korea this year. As demand for personalized travel continues to grow, the process of selecting accommodations has also seen an increase in the use of detailed search filters, according to analysis.
According to Agoda on May 12, the most commonly used search filter was "accommodation type." This accounted for 22% of total filter usage, ranking first. This figure is higher than the Asian average of 19%. The data reveals a clear tendency among Korean travelers to choose their preferred accommodation type—such as hotel, resort, or apartment—before considering other factors.
The second most popular filter was "guest review score 8+ (excellent)," accounting for 12% of total usage, surpassing the Asian average of 9%. This reflects a preference for accommodations that have been verified based on actual guest reviews. Other filters that made the top ten include "breakfast included," "bed type," "swimming pool," "spa/sauna," "free cancellation," "location," "property location rating 9+ (superb)," and "parking."
In particular, Korean travelers showed a strong tendency to pay close attention to bed type. The "bed type" filter was the fourth most used in South Korea, and, along with Japan, recorded the highest usage rate in the Asia region. Across Asia as a whole, it ranked sixth.
There was also a notable preference for wellness-related amenities. The "spa/sauna" filter was the sixth most used in South Korea. Together with Japan, South Korea was one of the few Asian countries where this filter ranked in the top ten. This indicates that Korean travelers place significant importance on facilities and relaxation experiences when choosing accommodations.
