Chuncheon City in Gangwon Province has fully implemented an emergency transportation system on the first day of the city bus general strike, May 21, in order to minimize inconvenience to citizens.

View original imageFrom the first bus departure at 5:00 a.m. on that day, the city began operating a city bus strike response situation room and a temporary dispatch office, and is closely monitoring the operation status of major routes and any citizen inconveniences in real time.
In relation to this, Hyun Juntae, acting mayor of Chuncheon, visited the temporary dispatch office set up at the Chuncheon Bioindustry Promotion Agency that morning, received a report from headquarters officials on the overall strike situation and operation status of emergency transport vehicles, and closely inspected whether the dispatch system was functioning smoothly.
The city has deployed a total of 30 vehicles—including 23 non-union driver vehicles and 7 chartered buses—to operate an emergency transportation system focused on major routes. On the day of the strike, there will be a total of 192 runs centered on routes 200, 300, 15, and 4, and school express buses (S-1 to S-12) as well as village buses will operate as usual.

Additionally, chartered bus drivers are receiving training on route familiarization and logbook preparation after gathering at the temporary dispatch office, further strengthening the on-site response system.
