Rain to Perform Tribute Stage at This Year's Weverse Con Festival
Selected as Tribute Artist
Hybe announced on May 21 that singer Rain has been selected as the tribute artist for the "Weverse Con Festival," which will be held at the KSPO DOME (Olympic Gymnastics Arena) and 88 Jandi Madang in Seoul on June 6 and 7.
The tribute stage is an event that reexamines artists who have influenced Korean popular music. The late Shin Hae-chul, Seo Taiji, Uhm Jung-hwa, Park Jinyoung, and BoA have all performed on this stage. The organizers stated that Rain was chosen because he set a new standard for solo artists in Korean pop music and successfully completed his first world tour.
This year marks the 27th anniversary of Rain's debut. For this performance, he will present new arrangements of his signature songs and dances, adapting them to a contemporary style.
Rain said, "I want to evoke nostalgia for the generation that grew up with my music, and deliver a fresh shock to teenagers," adding, "Because I believe in the power of music, I am preparing a stage that all generations can enjoy." Referring to his new song "FEEL IT," released on May 11, he said, "I want to share the joy of enjoying music together with the audience."
Regarding the tribute performances where younger artists sing his songs, he said, "I'm delighted that the next generation continues to sing and enjoy my music," and added, "I hope the audience feels that music transcends generations."
