Dongjak Family Culture Center Receives Minister of the Interior and Safety Award for Excellence in Supporting Foreign Residents’ Settlement
Over 200,000 Supported in the Past Three Years
Global Festival Scheduled for June 20
Dongjak Family Culture Center in Dongjak District, Seoul, has received a commendation from the Minister of the Interior and Safety as an exemplary institution for supporting the settlement of foreign residents. On May 21, Dongjak District announced that Dongjak Family Culture Center was selected as the '2026 Outstanding Organization for Supporting the Settlement of Foreign Residents' and received the ministerial commendation on May 20.

View original imageDongjak Family Culture Center is the only organization to be selected for the Minister of the Interior and Safety Award, which was presented in celebration of the 19th World Day for Cultural Diversity (May 20).
Dongjak Family Culture Center, positioning itself as a "work-rest-life support platform," has established a comprehensive, life-cycle support system for foreign residents from their initial settlement to independence and participation in society. The center is recognized for achieving tangible results in social integration through a participatory management structure and a community-based public-private cooperation network.
Key achievements include the operation of the Dongjak Diversity Family Volunteer Group, support for the settlement of marriage immigrants through the establishment of an employment support process, and strengthening community integration through multicultural festivals in the district. Over the past three years, the center has run projects involving more than 206,000 participants, achieving results across all areas such as family relations, care, daily life, and the local community.
Meanwhile, Dongjak Family Culture Center will host the "Dongjak Da(value) Global Festival" on June 20, bringing together around 500 participants, including foreign residents, multicultural families, and local citizens. The event will feature campaign booths, food booths, experience booths, and a musical performance.

A district official stated, "This award is the result of ongoing efforts made in the field to help foreign residents and multicultural families settle stably in the local community," adding, "We will continue to strive to build an inclusive community where everyone comes together through various projects that promote mutual understanding and respect for each other's cultures."
