"Preventing Flood Damage" Hadong County Launches Comprehensive Flood Maintenance Project
Governor Seungcheol Ha Visits Ministry of Economy and Finance and Ministry of the Interior and Safety to Request National Funding Support
"Fundamental Resolution of Recurring Flood Damage Expected"
Hadong County in South Gyeongsang Province is making every effort to be selected for the "Okjong District Flood Damage Living Area Comprehensive Maintenance Project" in order to prevent recurring flood damage caused by heavy rainfall and to ensure the safety of county residents.
On May 18, Hadong County Governor Seungcheol Ha visited the Ministry of Economy and Finance and the Ministry of the Interior and Safety to explain the need for the selection of new projects under the "2027 Flood Damage Living Area Comprehensive Maintenance Project" and national subsidy support, and requested active cooperation from the central government.

View original imageAccording to the county, the "Okjong District Flood Damage Living Area Comprehensive Maintenance Project" is a disaster prevention initiative that will be carried out in Cheongnyong-ri and Byeongcheon-ri, Okjong-myeon from 2027 to 2030.
The total project cost is expected to be 38.92 billion won, with 19.46 billion won each to be provided by the national and local governments.
The main components of the project include: ▲2.2 km of embankment construction and reinforcement ▲reconstruction of 8 bridges ▲8,700 square meters of river maintenance ▲1.38 km of drainage maintenance ▲slope stabilization at 2 locations ▲and the installation of disaster early warning systems.
Hadong County has already completed a feasibility study and established the master plan, and has also been carrying out related administrative procedures such as designating areas for natural disaster risk improvement.
Based on this, the county applied to the Ministry of the Interior and Safety for the "2027 Flood Damage Living Area Comprehensive Maintenance Project" in February and visited central government ministries again to reiterate the necessity and urgency of the project.
In particular, Governor Ha directly visited the Welfare and Safety Budget Division of the Ministry of Economy and Finance and the Natural Disaster Response Bureau of the Ministry of the Interior and Safety, and proposed that, if the project is selected, 1.5 billion won of the 3 billion won project budget for 2027 be supported by the national government.

Governor Seungcheol Ha stated, "The Okjong District is an area that suffers repeated flood damage every time there is heavy rainfall," and added, "Through the Flood Damage Living Area Comprehensive Maintenance Project, we will fundamentally resolve disaster risks and do our utmost to create a safe environment where residents can live with peace of mind."
