Standing Auditor Jung Hyesun Becomes Korea Occupational Safety and Health Agency’s First Female Executive
For the first time since its establishment, the Korea Occupational Safety and Health Agency (Chairman Kim Hyunjung) has appointed its first female executive director.

View original imageThe person in question is Hye-sun Jung, who began her tenure as Standing Auditor on May 15. She is an expert who has combined both research and practical work in the field of occupational safety and health for many years. Dr. Jung earned her doctorate in public health from Seoul National University and has served as a professor at the Department of Preventive Medicine at Catholic University, President of the Korea Federation of Occupational Safety and Health Organizations, and an industrial health expert committee member at the Ministry of Employment and Labor. Notably, she was also an advisor to the National Policy Planning Committee of the Lee Jae-myung administration in 2025.
At that time, she served as an advisor in the Social Affairs Division 1, which covered six fields closely related to public life: health, welfare, women, labor, human rights, and veterans affairs. She concurrently worked with both the labor and health teams, contributing to the development of occupational safety and health policies. In addition, she previously served as a non-standing director of the agency from 2018 to 2020. According to the agency, “She possesses a deep understanding of key issues and overall operations, which enables her to take on her responsibilities immediately after assuming her position.”

Standing Auditor Jung stated, “By establishing a risk-based audit system and enhancing internal control functions, I will support the agency in achieving its management objectives and actively contribute to strengthening the effectiveness of occupational accident prevention projects. I will do my utmost to ensure that the agency becomes a trusted institution among the public, based on transparent audit administration.”
