Do you know the power of 'pseudonymized data'?
Busan Metropolitan City (Acting Mayor Kim Kyungdeok) and Busan Technopark (President Kim Hyunggyun) are taking steps to establish a collaborative system for utilizing pseudonymized data among public institutions in the Busan region.
On May 20, Busan Metropolitan City and Busan Technopark announced that they will be promoting the 'Pseudonymized Data Utilization Alliance' to strengthen the foundation for data collaboration among public institutions.
This alliance aims to identify new possibilities for the use of pseudonymized data and to establish a secure data utilization framework, focusing on local public enterprises and institutions such as public corporations and agencies that hold public data.
Pseudonymized data refers to information that has been processed by deleting or replacing parts of personal data so that an individual cannot be identified without additional information. It is considered highly promising for use in various fields, including data-driven administration, policy development, research, and industrial innovation.
On the afternoon of May 20, Busan Metropolitan City plans to hold the first meeting of the alliance at the Busan Pseudonymized Data Utilization Support Center in Haeundae-gu, which will also include training and feedback programs for participating institutions.
The training will cover the necessity of using pseudonymized data when providing public data, the support system of the Personal Information Protection Commission, and ways to generate and use synthetic data. The program will also collect feedback on the demand for and challenges in utilizing pseudonymized data at each institution, as well as the need for institutional and technical support.
Busan Metropolitan City intends to further expand the scope of participating institutions and broaden operations to include consulting and training on pseudonymized data utilization, case studies, and the planning of joint projects.
