Gyeonggi Province to Provide 200 Million Won in Incentives to Cities and Counties Excelling in Local River Management
Gyeonggi Province has established and is set to launch the "2026 Local River Maintenance and Management Incentive Plan," which will provide a total of 200 million won in incentives to cities and counties (si·gun) that excel in local river maintenance and management.
The local river maintenance and management incentive system is a new initiative introduced in 2025. It aims to strengthen the autonomous and responsible river management systems of local governments, foster healthy competition to improve resident safety, and enhance water-friendly environments.
The evaluation will target 31 cities and counties within the province that manage local rivers. The main evaluation criteria include: ▲participation in river policy, ▲performance in river maintenance and management, and ▲progress in compensation for local river maintenance projects.
Gyeonggi Province plans to select a total of seven cities and counties through category-based evaluations and distribute the 200 million won in financial incentives accordingly.
