SK Shieldus Partners with NHN Waplat for Senior Digital Care Collaboration
Promoting Digital Care Services Based on AI and Smart Home Technology
On May 18, SK Shieldus announced that its physical security brand, ADT Caps, will collaborate with NHN Waplat to expand its AI-based care services and life safety business.
SK Shieldus is strengthening its digital care business by partnering with senior care specialists, leveraging ADT Caps’ AI CCTV, 24/7 security monitoring, and nationwide rapid response infrastructure. The counterpart in this collaboration is NHN Waplat, a senior care company under the NHN Group, which operates an AI-based care app service. Both companies plan to continue their strategic partnership to address growing demand for digital care by combining their respective strengths.
The first collaboration will be in the Ministry of Health and Welfare’s ‘AI Application Product Rapid Commercialization Support Project (AX Sprint)’ for the smart home sector. SK Shieldus and NHN Waplat, participating as an NHN consortium, will pilot a smart home care operation model for a total of 400 households in Gyeonggi Province and Jeollanam-do by 2027. This project integrates AI and smart home technology into the senior care ecosystem, offering a next-generation digital care model that supports safety, health, and emotional well-being. The core objective is to enable older adults to live independently and more safely by linking AI and Internet of Things (IoT)-based daily life data, care equipment, and monitoring services.
As seamless integration between AI motion detection technology and real-world response systems is crucial, SK Shieldus will support the project by providing 24/7 monitoring center operations, emergency dispatch in coordination with 119, and equipment management, all based on ADT Caps’ nationwide security infrastructure. NHN Waplat will be responsible for planning the AI care platform, establishing operational systems, and offering AI daily support staff conversation services.
Additionally, the two companies intend to seek further collaboration opportunities in the future. By continuously linking ADT Caps’ physical security expertise with NHN Waplat’s senior care app service, they plan to strengthen service models that can reduce care gaps among the elderly. SK Shieldus also aims to incorporate care functions into ADT Caps’ home security brand ‘Caps Home’ service lineup, expanding into comprehensive life safety services.
