Therefore, I have decided not to run for Yongin mayor as the candidate of the Innovation Party, and I solemnly declare my support for Hyun Geuntaek of the Democratic Party as the unified candidate for mayor."
In particular, Seonamkwon cited three reasons for supporting candidate Hyun Geuntaek: 'the mandate of the citizens,' 'the demands of the times,' and 'policy alignment.' He emphasized, "Today marks the 'Day of Great Unity in Yongin.' I urge citizens to open the door to a 'New Era for Yongin' with their votes in the upcoming local elections."
In response, Hyun Geuntaek, the Democratic Party candidate for Yongin mayor, expressed his deep respect and gratitude for Seonamkwon's dedication and decision, and fully accepted the declaration of support.
Candidate Hyun Geuntaek stated, "The Innovation Party's 'Zero People Power' and our Democratic Party's 'Cleansing the Remnants of Insurrection' are two sides of the same coin. We must win in Yongin to achieve the latter."
He continued, "The Innovation Party's pledges to guarantee housing rights and autonomy are essentially in line with my own promises of 5,000 rental homes for newlywed youth and other practical, everyday policies such as 'small but certain happiness.' These are consistent with the Democratic Party's core direction."
Candidate Hyun Geuntaek added, "The citizens of Yongin are demanding that our democratic reform forces unite to change the local government. Taking this mandate seriously, I am determined to replace the current mayor, root out any lingering insurrectionary influences, and achieve normalization of local governance and eradication of corruption."
