Through various activities such as ▲meeting with city council members, ▲watching a council promotional video, ▲learning about the role of local councils, and ▲participating in a mock council session, the students had the opportunity to learn the fundamental principles of local autonomy and democracy.
In particular, the students gained a vivid understanding of the functions and roles of local councils by directly experiencing the process of proposing and voting on agenda items during the mock council session.
Chairman Bae Jeongsu stated, "I hope this experience classroom will be a meaningful opportunity for students to deepen their understanding of local councils and to properly experience the process of democratic decision-making." He continued, "I also hope this will serve as a chance to learn the values of democracy, such as making decisions based on the principle of majority rule and respecting and accepting each other's opinions in daily life going forward."
He added, "We will continue to operate a variety of experience programs to create an open council where citizens and youth can communicate together."
