This training has been organized to strengthen the linkage between school education and ceramic cultural programs based on regional national heritage, and to establish a collaborative system between the museum and schools. In particular, the focus is on sharing educational approaches that can be implemented in schools by connecting local cultural heritage—such as the Gwangju Joseon White Porcelain Kiln Site and the Gwangju Samri Paleolithic Site—with ceramic culture.
The program will run from 10:00 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. on the 20th and will include a lecture on leadership in cultural heritage education, a guided tour and interpretation of the Gyeonggi Ceramic Museum’s exhibitions, and a hands-on experience with blue-and-white porcelain.
In addition, on the 27th, a training session titled "First Encounter with Local Heritage, Connecting Ceramic Culture through Classes" will be held for new elementary school teachers in Gwangju and Hanam. The program will run from 3:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. and will feature a lecture on education and utilization strategies for local heritage, exhibition interpretation, and a hands-on activity making a white porcelain bottle diffuser.
This initiative is being carried out in collaboration with the Elementary Education Support Department of the Gwangju-Hanam Office of Education in Gyeonggi Province. Based on satisfaction surveys and results analysis, the Gyeonggi Ceramic Museum plans to expand its school-linked programs and further strengthen its collaborative network with the local education office and schools.
Ryu Inkwon, CEO of the Korea Ceramic Foundation, stated, "I hope this training will serve as an opportunity to recognize the educational value of local national heritage and ceramic culture, and to integrate them into school curricula," adding, "We will continue to connect the Gyeonggi Ceramic Museum's cultural heritage education resources with the school field, contributing to the spread of local cultural heritage education."
