Hee-young Jeon, a preliminary candidate for governor of Gyeongnam Province from the Progressive Party, completed her official candidate registration at the Gyeongnam Election Commission on the first day of registration for the 9th nationwide local elections on May 14.
Candidate Jeon stated, "Although the leadership of Gyeongnam Province has changed from Governor Kim Kyungsoo to Governor Park Wansoo, the reality for residents remains the same: 'A wealthy Gyeongnam, yet poor residents.' Gyeongnam needs new leadership."
She continued, "As a new figure, I, Hee-young Jeon, will become the first female leader of Gyeongnam and serve as a strong support for the people."

Additionally, she emphasized, "The Progressive Party's stance remains unchanged: we must heed the people's will to completely eradicate the forces of rebellion." She added, "Candidate Kim Kyungsoo has shown a lukewarm attitude, but if he is truly committed to eradicating the legacy of rebellion, he should prove his determination," expressing her opinion on the unification of progressive candidates.
