Yuhost Secures Hybrid Solar-Wind Renewable Power Technology... Targets Urban Power Infrastructure Market
Yuhost, a subsidiary of SPsoft, is entering the renewable energy-based power infrastructure market by acquiring hybrid power generation technology that combines solar and wind energy.
On May 14, Yuhost announced that it had completed the acquisition of core patents and business rights related to solar-wind hybrid generation technology from VHEM, a company specializing in small wind power systems.
The newly secured technology is a hybrid power solution that utilizes both solar and wind energy simultaneously. Its main feature is a design that combines two different power sources, enabling stable power generation regardless of changes in weather conditions.
In particular, the installation of high-efficiency solar panels on top of wind turbine blades minimizes the space required, which is regarded as a major advantage.
This solution also features a structure that differentiates it from conventional wind power generation systems. Instead of changing blade direction according to wind direction like typical wind systems, it uses an omnidirectional response structure that immediately reacts to winds from any direction, allowing efficient power generation even in the irregular turbulent environments found in urban areas.
In addition, the adoption of frictionless magnetic levitation technology enables power generation even from light winds, and significantly reduces noise and vibration, making it well-suited for urban installation.
Yuhost plans to use this technology acquisition as a stepping stone to expand its presence in the urban power infrastructure market. The company has already established a track record by supplying integrated energy management solutions to local governments and large industrial complexes.
The new solution can be installed in various locations, such as rooftops of urban buildings and unused land, and is expected to have a high potential for use in the edge data center sector, where demand is rising due to the expansion of AI and autonomous driving data processing.
A Yuhost representative stated, "This technology, which combines solar and wind energy, will be a key solution to addressing the intermittency issue that is considered the main limitation of renewable energy. Because it can provide stable power generation regardless of wind direction or weather changes, we plan to lead the intelligent distributed power generation system market, allowing buildings in urban areas and industrial complexes to generate their own electricity."
The representative also explained, "Yuhost has been building a portfolio in the power generation sector through solar and small wind demonstration projects in Gunsan Industrial Complex and Incheon Namdong Industrial Complex. Based on this, we aim to accelerate the commercialization of next-generation power generation technologies."
They added, "The new solution is expected to be utilized across various industries, as it is equipped with an ESS (Energy Storage System) beneath the generator, enabling not only self-generation but also external power supply."
