A fire broke out at the Bitdream Headquarters of Korea Southern Power Co., Ltd. (KOSPO) in Gamcheon-dong, Saha-gu, Busan.

View original imageAccording to the Busan Fire and Disaster Headquarters and other sources, at around 3:53 p.m. on May 10, reports of fire were made one after another as black smoke engulfed the area.
The Busan Fire and Disaster Headquarters sent out a safety alert message, urging nearby residents to stay indoors and pay attention to safety.
The fire authorities declared Level 1 response, mobilizing 48 pieces of equipment and 147 personnel to extinguish the blaze. The main fire was reported to have been brought under control at around 5:30 p.m. As of now, no casualties have been reported.

Korea Southern Power believes the fire started from the steam turbine electrical equipment of Unit 4 at the Busan Bitdream Headquarters. Once firefighting operations are completed, the fire authorities and the police plan to investigate the cause of the fire and assess the extent of the damage.
