Candidate Joo pledged to achieve "more than completion" by building on the achievements of the 8th popularly elected administration over the past four years. He declared his commitment to pursue major initiatives without interruption, including: attracting the first tertiary general hospital with 1,000 beds in northern Gyeonggi Province; bringing investment from leading companies such as Kakao to the Wangsu Urban High-Tech Industrial Complex, which is 1.7 times the size of Pangyo; and completing the era of 10 railway lines, including the GTX-B line.
He went on to say, "The person who designed the blueprint is best suited to complete the project," emphasizing that, based on his 30 years of experience in law, legislation, and administration, he would completely shed Namyangju's image as a bedroom community and complete its transformation into a future-oriented, self-sufficient city.
In particular, candidate Joo unveiled his first major pledge on this day, announcing the "Hybrid City Development" project centered around the Namyangju Sports Center, thus opening his policy campaign in earnest.
He explained, "The area around the Namyangju Sports and Culture Center serves as a strategic hub connecting the three downtown areas of Dasan, Wangsu, and Yangjeong new towns. We will create Korea's first smart city integrating culture, sports, education, health, and housing, so that our citizens will no longer need to go to Seoul on weekends."
The Hybrid City Development project aims to transform the area connecting Dasan, Wangsu, and Yangjeong new towns and the Sports and Culture Center into a self-sufficient smart city that combines culture, sports, education, housing, and health. Key facilities will include a dedicated e-sports arena, a premium shopping mall, high-end residential complexes, and large-scale healthcare centers. By establishing an integrated hub in the southern region, the plan is to create jobs, attract millions of floating residents, and complete a perfectly self-sufficient city.
