Man in His 20s Kills Upstairs Neighbor in Elevator After Ongoing Noise Dispute
Police: "Plan to Request Arrest Warrant"
A man in his 20s has been apprehended by police after fatally stabbing a neighbor from an upper floor inside an apartment elevator in Daegu.
The Daegu Western Police Station announced on May 9 that they had arrested suspect A at the scene on charges of murder and are currently investigating the case.
According to the police, at around 10:40 a.m. that day, A is accused of stabbing and killing his neighbor, B, a man in his 50s who lived on an upper floor, in the elevator of the apartment building where A resides in Seo District, Daegu.
After receiving a report from an apartment official, police were dispatched to the scene and arrested A in front of the first-floor elevator. A sustained stab wounds and is receiving treatment at the hospital, but his injuries are not life-threatening.
The police investigation found that A was in possession of a weapon at the time he encountered B.
Police currently believe that A committed the crime after an ongoing conflict with B over noise between floors.
