Megabox announced on May 8 that it has been selected as the lead institution for the national project to develop 'Korean-style dome media' technology, organized by the Korea Creative Content Agency.

This project, which will be carried out through 2028 with a budget of 8.2 billion won, is divided into two parts: the 'development of AI-based video and audio integrated orchestration technology' and the 'development of virtual space-based automatic audio generation and spatial analysis rendering technology.' The aim is to develop technology that enables movies, K-pop performances, sports, and other content to be experienced within dome media spaces. In particular, the project will focus on strengthening the audio aspect, which has been identified as a relative weakness of dome media.

Megabox will carry out research and development in collaboration with eight partners from academia, industry, and research institutes, including LG Electronics, Metafactory, Decide, Korea Electronics Technology Institute, and Soongsil University. As the lead institution, Megabox will oversee the entire project and promote the Korean-style dome media business focusing on the Seoul metropolitan area and major domestic hubs.

Bongjae Kim, Head of Multiplex Division at Megabox, stated, "We will develop platforms and technologies that realize K-culture content in the best possible environment."
