Upgrading Outdated Sports and Rest Facilities, Replacing Deck Structures
Comprehensive Improvements Including Basketball and Badminton Court Renovations
Sohadong Hannae Neighborhood Park, located along the Hannaecheon stream in Gwangmyeong, Gyeonggi Province, and beloved by citizens for walking, exercise, and relaxation, is set for a major renovation.
On May 8, Gwangmyeong City announced plans to carry out facility improvements at Hannae Neighborhood Park, aiming to provide a more pleasant and safer environment for citizens to enjoy rest and leisure activities.
Hannae Neighborhood Park is located along the Hannaecheon stream in the Sohadong 1331 and 1334 area. As a park that serves many residents from nearby apartment complexes and residential neighborhoods, the upcoming renovation is aimed at enhancing both convenience and safety for citizens.
The improvement project will be carried out in phases, with a total budget of 700 million won.
First, by May, approximately 300 million won will be spent to upgrade sports facilities, including a 700-square-meter basketball court and a 600-square-meter badminton court, as well as to replace or install new rest facilities.
The project will include a complete replacement of the flooring in the basketball and badminton courts, installation of two new basketball hoops, and the addition of safety fences to create a safer environment for exercise.
In addition, six old pergolas and 22 benches will be replaced or newly installed, and the walking paths around the sports facilities will be leveled for improved accessibility.
To accommodate the growing popularity of barefoot walking trails, the project will add one new foot-washing station and install soil-retaining barriers around the paths to prevent soil erosion, focusing on practical, user-oriented upgrades.
From September to December, an additional 400 million won will be allocated to completely replace four old deck structures (ramps and stairs) that connect the park with the Sohadong commercial district and nearby apartment complexes. These improvements are expected to make it safer and more convenient for citizens to access the park entrances.
During the construction period, some sports facilities and pedestrian pathways may be restricted to prevent safety accidents and ensure smooth progress of the work.
Choi Hyemin, Acting Mayor (and Deputy Mayor) of Gwangmyeong, stated, "Hannae Neighborhood Park is a representative park that many citizens use as part of their daily lives, so we are focusing on creating a safer and more pleasant environment through facility improvements. We will continue striving to manage and upgrade neighborhood parks so that citizens can easily find comfortable places for rest and leisure near their homes."
