A Man in His 60s Who Devoted His Life to Family Gives New Life to Three Through His Final Choice
Jeong Chanho Donates Liver and Both Kidneys
A man in his 60s, who spent his entire life working for his family without any hobbies, gave the gift of new life to three people through brain death organ donation.
According to the Korea Organ and Tissue Donation Agency on April 28, Jeong Chanho (68) donated his liver and both kidneys at The Catholic University of Korea Uijeongbu St. Mary's Hospital on February 22 and then passed away. Three patients who received his liver and kidneys have been given a new lease on life.
Three days prior to the donation, Jeong collapsed at a bathhouse and was taken to the hospital, but unfortunately, he never regained consciousness and fell into brain death.
Afterwards, his family decided to honor Jeong's wish, as he had often said, "I want to do something good for others when I leave this world."
According to his family, Jeong was born in Seoul as the second of three sons. Although he was quiet and reserved, he was a steadfast father who would quietly listen to his two sons' concerns. Known for his sense of responsibility, Jeong was dedicated to supporting his family throughout his life, never taking up any hobbies for himself.
In his youth, he worked for over 20 years at an auto parts company, and in his middle age, he ran a milk distribution agency until recently, providing for his family.
His wife, Jang Inhee, expressed her sorrow, saying, "My husband always worked hard to support our family. Only in the past year or two did he finally start traveling with friends and find some leisure. He devoted himself to his family and endured many hardships."
His son, Jeong Sanggi, gave his final farewell: "I will never forget the love and devotion you showed for our family. I promise to visit often and always remember you, Father."
