Jeongeup City Launches On-Site Support to Help Farms Facing Labor Shortages
Intensive Rural Manpower Support Efforts Through June 26
Jeongeup City in North Jeolla Province has launched on-site support measures to alleviate the labor shortage during the busy farming season. This initiative aims to assist farms struggling to secure sufficient manpower due to an aging population and rising labor costs, and to ensure that no one misses the optimal farming period.
According to Jeongeup City on April 28, staff members from the Agricultural Policy Division visited a pear farm in Taegok-ri, Buk-myeon on April 27 to help with fruit thinning and to listen to the challenges faced in the field.
Jeongeup City will operate an intensive rural manpower support period through June 26. The city is establishing a support center to systematically connect labor resources, with participation from the Agricultural Policy Division as well as various departments, offices, and industry teams in eup, myeon, and dong districts.
Participation will also be expanded beyond public officials to include affiliated organizations, volunteers, and university students. The city aims to foster a spirit of voluntary service and contribute to relieving the rural labor shortage.
