People Power Party Daegu Mayoral Candidate Choo Kyung-ho Appoints Former Presidential Candidate Munsu Kim as Honorary Chief of Election Committee
Choo Kyung-ho, who was selected as the People Power Party's candidate for mayor of Daegu, appointed Munsu Kim, former presidential candidate of the People Power Party, as honorary chief of the election campaign committee on April 28.
Choo explained that he appointed Munsu Kim as honorary chief of the election campaign committee because, under his plan to swiftly organize a campaign team ready for immediate deployment without additional training, Kim is the most recent People Power Party candidate to have run in a major national election.
In particular, Daegu and North Gyeongsang Province are positioning themselves as the stronghold for a united conservative front through a joint election committee initiative. Choo has previously stated that a victory in Daegu will drive wins in other key battlegrounds such as Busan and Seoul. Given that honorary chief Munsu Kim was born in Yeongcheon, North Gyeongsang Province, and graduated from Daegu Gyeongbuk High School, he is considered the right person to lead the campaign to victory in Daegu and North Gyeongsang Province.
Choo said, "In the last presidential election, both Munsu Kim and the People Power Party earnestly called on the public to prevent the Democratic Party's legislative dictatorship and subsequent control over the executive branch from shaking the foundation and roots of the country. In response, the citizens of Daegu gave overwhelming support with 67.62% of the vote," adding, "In this Daegu mayoral election as well, I believe citizens will choose Choo Kyung-ho as a counterbalance to the runaway rule of the Lee Jae-myung administration, and as the last bastion and breakwater of South Korean liberal democracy."
