This event, hosted annually since 2021 by the National Institute of Ecology, aims to raise public awareness about endangered species conservation. Through the 'Endangered Species Conservation Support Certification Program,' the National Institute of Ecology also evaluates companies' related activities.
Since signing a business agreement with the National Institute of Ecology in 2022, HS Hyosung Advanced Materials has continued biodiversity conservation efforts, including planting 2,000 plants of the Jeonjumulkkoripul, a Grade II endangered wild plant. Recognized for these contributions, the company has been listed as a certified supporter of endangered species conservation from 2023 to the present.
In addition, the company is taking action to protect endangered honeybees. In 2023, HS Hyosung Advanced Materials established nectar gardens by planting endangered wild plants at the Mulbeodeul Ecological Experience Learning Center in Seocheon-gun, South Chungcheong Province, and in 2024 at the Ulsan Climate Crisis Response Education Center in Ulju-gun, Ulsan. Nectar plants such as canola and buckwheat provide nectar and pollen, which serve as food sources for honeybees, thereby helping to sustain colonies and increase populations.
The company is also devoted to managing factors that threaten biodiversity. Since 2023, it has conducted annual activities to remove invasive plant species such as Gashibak and Hwan Samdeunggul from Yubudo, Seocheon—designated as a UNESCO World Natural Heritage site.
