"Realizing Checks and Balances Beyond the Democratic Party's Monopoly"
Former Justice Party lawmaker Eunmi Kang has officially announced her candidacy for the Jeonnam-Gwangju Integrated Special Mayor election, vowing to realize "alternative politics" centered on labor, care, and carbon neutrality.
At a press conference held in the Gwangju City Council briefing room on March 31, Kang stated, "I will create a 'Special City for Labor' where every citizen is special and life shines, breaking the capital area-centric system and the Democratic Party's monopoly, and building a new democracy and local economic ecosystem."

In the labor sector, Kang emphasized "job security, safe workplaces, and fair wages," presenting plans to improve the quality of public sector jobs and strengthen safety measures in industrial worksites.
In the care sector, she promised to expand public responsibility by establishing a "365-day care system," strengthening public healthcare by district, and designating special care zones.
For climate and industrial policies, Kang proposed the establishment of a Green Energy Corporation, expanding citizen-participatory renewable energy, and introducing eco-friendly free public transportation. She also pledged to build a circular economy structure through a local reinvestment ordinance and the establishment of a public bank.
Kang said, "Administrative integration must not result in the consolidation of power by a specific party. I will realize a democracy of checks and balances where citizens are the owners." She further stressed, "I will create a 'Special City for Social Integration' that reflects the voices of a diverse range of citizens, including workers, women, youth, and farmers and fishermen."
