Public Officials Ethics Committee Releases 2026 Asset Declarations
Kim Sangho, Chief of the Chunchugwan Press Center, Owns the Most Properties with Seven
Lee Janghyeong, Legal Affairs Secretary, Reports 4.4 Billion Won Increase for a Total of 13
It has been confirmed that out of 47 senior aides at the Blue House at the secretary level or above, 10 own two or more residential properties. While none of the aides at the chief-of-staff level owned multiple homes, 2 out of the 11 senior secretaries were found to own multiple houses. If ownership of officetels, neighborhood living facilities, and shares in residential properties are included, the number of multiple-property owners rises to 18. On average, Blue House aides were found to possess assets worth approximately 2.7 billion won.
According to the "2026 Regular Public Official Asset Report" released by the Government Public Official Ethics Committee on March 26, the average assets held by Blue House aides at the secretary level or above were calculated to be 2.75 billion won. The Blue House aide with the largest declared assets was Lee Janghyeong, Secretary for Legal Affairs, who reported 13.41 billion won. This represents an increase of more than 4.4 billion won compared to the 8.99 billion won Lee reported upon joining the Blue House after the government was inaugurated last year. This appears to be due to the increased valuation of approximately 21,000 shares of Tesla stock held in the names of Lee and his two children. Lee reported that the value of the stock holdings for himself and his children increased by 4.21 billion won, from 9.46 billion won to 13.68 billion won.
The Blue House aide with the second-largest amount of declared assets was Lee Minjoo, Secretary for National Public Relations. Lee reported 7.98 billion won, an increase of 1.48 billion won. Bank deposits rose by 530 million won, securities holdings by 770 million won, and newly declared virtual assets amounted to 170 million won. Following this, Wi Sunglak, Director of National Security, reported 6.14 billion won; Kim Sangho, Director of Chun Chugwan (Blue House press office), 5.99 billion won; Lee Taehyung, Secretary for Civil Affairs, 5.9 billion won; and Moon Jinyoung, Senior Secretary for Social Affairs, 5.71 billion won. Ha Jungwoo, Senior Secretary for AI Future Planning, reported 4.25 billion won. The increase in his assets was 1.39 billion won, as his bank deposits rose from 520 million won to 2.5 billion won. This was the result of receiving a severance payment from Naver and depositing a significant portion of the proceeds from the sale of stocks.
Ten Multiple-Property Owners at the Secretary Level or Above
Jo Sungjoo, Senior Secretary for Personnel Affairs, reported two properties: a Lotte Castle Liberty apartment in Seocho-dong, Seocho-gu, Seoul under joint ownership with his spouse, valued at 1.32 billion won, and a mixed-use residential and commercial building in Sejong City worth 540 million won. Moon Jinyoung, Senior Secretary for Social Affairs, owns a Hangaram apartment in Ichon-dong, Yongsan-gu valued at 1.88 billion won and a mixed-use building in Yeoksam-dong, Gangnam-gu worth 100 million won.

However, it has been reported that Kim has recently put some of these multiple properties up for sale. Choi Seonga, Secretary for Overseas Media, jointly owns a Deoksugung Lotte Castle apartment in Sunhwa-dong, Jung-gu, worth 1.32 billion won with her spouse, a Samsung Raemian apartment in Geumho-dong, Seongdong-gu, under her own name worth 680 million won, and a mixed-use building in Sokcho valued at 500 million won, totaling three properties.

Lee Taehyung, Secretary for Civil Affairs, jointly owns a Jamsil Woosung apartment in Songpa-gu (2.35 billion won) with his spouse, while his spouse owns a multi-family house in Gwacheon, Gyeonggi Province (1.12 billion won).
