This meeting was convened in alignment with the establishment of the 2nd National Basic Plan for Youth Policy (2026–2030) to discuss the direction of mid- to long-term youth policies tailored to local conditions and to assess the detailed projects to be implemented this year.
According to the basic plan, the city aims to build a “youth-friendly city where young people can thrive,” and will systematically promote youth policies across five sectors: ▲employment, ▲housing, ▲education, ▲finance, welfare, and culture, and ▲participation and infrastructure.
In the employment sector, the core project is the establishment of an “integrated hub for youth employment and entrepreneurship centers and services.” In the education sector, the city plans to build a “local youth growth ecosystem” to prepare for future industries such as semiconductors and AI.
Key projects in the housing, welfare, and culture sectors also stand out. The city will concentrate on introducing the “Yongin-style monthly rent support for youth” and establishing a “Youth Independence Support Center” for vulnerable young people, as well as developing a youth multi-purpose cultural hub.
In the participation and infrastructure sector, the city plans to strengthen the foundation for youth participation in policymaking by expanding the establishment of the “Youth Foundation” and designating Yongin as a “youth-friendly city.”
As the first step in implementing this basic plan, the city has developed an action plan for this year that consists of 71 projects, including the “Yongin-style youth savings program” and the “2026 Yongin Youth University Sports Festival.” The total budget allocated for youth policies this year is 36.04 billion won, an increase of approximately 3.6 billion won compared to last year.
Kim Junghoon, Co-Chairman of the Youth Policy Coordination Committee, stated, “The 4th Yongin Youth Policy Coordination Committee will continue to actively communicate the voices from the field so that policies that genuinely improve the quality of life for young people can be continuously developed.”
