Paju City Increases First Supplementary Budget by 60.3 Billion Won, Totaling 2.4202 Trillion Won

Paju City in Gyeonggi Province has drawn up its first supplementary budget for 2026, totaling 2.4202 trillion won, an increase of 60.3 billion won (2.5%) compared to the original budget.
This supplementary budget focuses on promoting key projects aimed at revitalizing the local economy and establishing a foundation for Paju to become a self-sustaining city of one million residents. It also incorporates additional allocations for central and provincial government subsidy projects, as well as special adjustment grants scheduled for the second half of 2025.
By account, the general account amounts to 2.0203 trillion won and the special account to 399.9 billion won. Compared to the original budget, the general account has increased by 57.7 billion won (2.9%), and the special account by 2.6 billion won (0.6%).
This supplementary budget allocates 26.9 billion won solely for the issuance of local gift certificates to revitalize the local economy. The aim is to boost local consumption and help small business owners recover their sales. Additionally, 3 billion won has been earmarked for establishing public renewable energy production bases to achieve carbon neutrality and improve energy self-sufficiency, thereby laying the groundwork for sustainable growth.
To steadily expand living infrastructure and enhance quality of life for citizens, the budget includes: 7 billion won for the (tentatively named) Generation-Integrated Support Center, 3.2 billion won for the Bandabi National Sports Center, 2.7 billion won for the Munsan Health Branch and Munsan Senior Welfare Complex Center, 4.7 billion won for the construction of an animal protection center and leisure facilities for companion animals, and 4.8 billion won for the Unjeong 4-dong Administrative Welfare Center. These allocations are intended to improve accessibility to welfare, health, sports, and administrative services.
Furthermore, to secure future growth engines, 1.3 billion won has been included for the creation of a Peace Economy Special Zone and 1 billion won for the Paju Fair Book & Culture event, strengthening the region's industrial and cultural competitiveness.
An official from Paju City stated, "Above all, this supplementary budget is focused on economic recovery for livelihoods and improving citizen convenience. Once the budget is finalized, we will swiftly implement it to support livelihood stability and ensure the smooth progress of key priority projects."

The first supplementary budget is scheduled to be finalized on April 3, following deliberation at the 262nd Paju City Council extraordinary session, which begins on March 25. From March 18, the supplementary budget proposal is available for public viewing by all citizens on the Paju City Hall website.
