Gijang Beach Luxury Resort to Open This Year... Banyan Tree Busan Haeundae Project Normalized
Ssangyong Engineering & Construction, Specialist in Luxury Hotel Construction, Begins Work in Mid-February
Project Accelerates in Second Quarter, Grand Opening Expected in October or November
This fall, another luxury resort will open in Gijang-gun, Busan.
The "Banyan Tree Busan Haeundae" project, currently under development at Yeonhwa Beach in the Osiria Tourist Complex in Gijang, Busan, has resumed construction and entered the normalization phase after a change in the construction contractor.
According to Lupentis, the project developer, Ssangyong Engineering & Construction, which has experience building five-star hotels, began work in mid-February, allowing on-site progress to resume. Construction has restarted after about a year-long suspension last year. Currently, the project is progressing sequentially according to the planned schedule. Restoration work at the site is expected to accelerate after the second quarter, making a grand opening in October or November this year increasingly likely.
The industry cites the change in contractor as the key factor in the normalization of this project. Expectations for construction quality and process reliability are rising, as Ssangyong Engineering & Construction, which has successfully completed numerous luxury hotel and resort projects both domestically and internationally, is now in charge of the work.
"Banyan Tree Busan Haeundae" is a luxury resort being built on the Yeonhwa Beach area of the Osiria Tourist Complex in Gijang-gun, Busan. The development will feature three underground levels and 12 above-ground floors, with 16 standalone villa-type units along the waterfront. Including tower-type and penthouse-style rooms, the total number of guest rooms will be 195.
Ssangyong Engineering & Construction is recognized for its expertise in constructing luxury hotels and resorts with complex structures and sophisticated designs, both in Korea and abroad. For this project, the company has established a phased inspection system that strengthens quality control and safety management processes throughout the construction.
The guest rooms are also designed around a private retreat concept. All 195 rooms will feature independent private pools and an East Sea ocean view. The structure is intended to realize a privacy-focused resort hotel concept, with Ssangyong Engineering & Construction’s finishing work aiming to further enhance the quality of completion.
A representative from Lupentis stated, "The capabilities of Ssangyong Engineering & Construction, specialized in luxury hotel construction, are being fully leveraged to complete this project," adding, "We are focused on stably completing the site within the planned schedule."
The hotel will be operated by Banyan Tree, a global luxury hotel brand. Banyan Group, which owns the Banyan Tree brand, currently operates 91 hotels and resorts across 23 countries, comprising approximately 10,800 guest rooms. Banyan Tree is recognized as the flagship brand within the group.
This is the first time in Korea’s shared ownership resort membership market that a global hotel brand will directly operate a property. The industry expects that the direct management system will improve predictability for service levels and facility maintenance.
The hotel will also feature a variety of dining and leisure facilities. Planned amenities include the Thai Michelin-starred fine dining restaurant "Saffron," rooftop dining at "Vertigo," all-day dining at "Olea," the bakery "Crust," a seafood market, and a total of six dining venues.
Additionally, facilities such as the Banyan Tree Spa, a rias infinity pool, a sky thalasso pool, an indoor swimming pool, a sauna, and a grand ballroom will be established. These amenities will be managed directly under the Banyan Tree global network’s operational standards.
The developer stated, "We are currently conducting the second round of Honors membership sales," and introduced, "Honors memberships are provided via a share-registered ownership system, where after contract, ownership is officially registered at the registry office just like an apartment sale."
There are no annual fees, and rights to transfer, gift, or inherit the membership are permitted, with the number of nights available for use each year also guaranteed. Memberships are available in two options: six units (60 nights per year) and twelve units (30 nights per year). The membership structure integrates villa, penthouse, and tower-type rooms and is currently being offered for sale.
Honors members are also entitled to benefits across the Banyan Tree global network. Through Lupentis's "Banyan Tree Private Collection (BTPC)" program, members can enjoy special rates at 115 Banyan Tree network hotels and overseas directly managed golf courses in 29 countries around the world.
