Wando County Holds D-50 Resolution Rally for 2026 Pre Wando International Seaweed Expo: "Aiming to Become Climate Leaders"
Six Days of Celebration Set at Beach Park and Marine Healing Center
Four Distinct Halls, Export Consultations, and More Synergy Anticipated
Wando County in South Jeolla Province has reaffirmed the unified will of its residents for the successful hosting of the "2026 Pre Wando International Seaweed Expo," which is now just 50 days away from its opening.
According to Wando County on March 16, the "2026 Pre Wando International Seaweed Expo County Residents' Resolution Rally" was held at the Wando Culture & Arts Center on March 13. The event was attended by more than 500 people, including County Head Shin Woochul, National Assembly member Park Jiwon, Wando County Council Chairman Kim Yanghun, provincial assembly members Lee Cheol and Shin Euijoon, members of the Seaweed Expo Organizing Committee, as well as the heads of various organizations and social groups, making for a vibrant gathering.

This sequence helped to heighten the atmosphere for the expo's success.
Wando County Head Shin Woochul took the stage himself to brief attendees on the progress of the expo, drawing attention from those present.
County Head Shin emphasized, "The key to solving the global climate crisis lies right here in the sea of Wando. The core of this expo is to promote the value of seaweed—blue carbon that absorbs carbon—to the world."
He went on to state, "Through this expo, we will further solidify Wando's status as a center for the seaweed and abalone industries. We are determined to successfully host this event and demonstrate to the world the strength of our residents in pursuit of international event approval for 2028."

The expo venue will feature four unique exhibition halls: the Seaweed Hall, the Theme Hall, the Industry Hall, and the Promotion Hall. In addition, a variety of academic and business programs are scheduled, including export consultation sessions with domestic and international buyers and an international academic symposium.
