They discussed a variety of support policies to address the challenges faced by small business owners and self-employed people in Goyang City.
In his opening remarks, candidate Myung stated, "Recently, the aftermath of the war between the United States and Iran has caused significant damage and hardship for small business owners and the self-employed." He added, "Since my top priority is revitalizing the livelihoods of our citizens, if I am elected mayor of Goyang, I will introduce support policies that people can actually feel."
Haekyun Park, chairman of the Goyang City Merchants Association, remarked, "Small business owners and the self-employed are key players in revitalizing the local economy and creating jobs, so practical support policies are essential." He suggested, "We need to commission experts to research ways to boost local business districts in Goyang City and introduce practical, everyday policies. For example, when large-scale events such as KINTEX exhibitions or K-pop idol concerts are held, a portion of the admission fees could be refunded as local currency, which can be used like cash within the community. Such a policy is urgently needed."
