Icheon City Fully Launches "Automatic Warning Call System" to Eradicate Illegal Advertisements
Continuous "warning calls" to advertisers behind illegal banners and flyers
Creating safe streets free from apartment sales banners and harmful media materials
Icheon City in Gyeonggi Province (Mayor Kim Kyunghee) announced on February 26 that it will introduce an "Automatic Warning Call System" and begin full-scale operation to eradicate illegal advertisements that are indiscriminately posted throughout the downtown area, damaging the cityscape and causing inconvenience to citizens.
The newly introduced "Automatic Warning Call System" automatically makes phone calls at set intervals to the contact numbers printed on illegal advertisements such as banners and flyers, informing them of the violations.
In particular, by continuously making calls and thereby neutralizing the use of the relevant numbers for promotional purposes, the system is designed both to effectively block illegal advertising activities and to induce advertisers to voluntarily remove their ads.
Icheon City decided to introduce this system to protect citizens from the recent surge in apartment sales banners and youth-harmful media materials, and to fundamentally block illegal advertising activities that are becoming increasingly sophisticated and habitual.
Going forward, if illegal activities continue despite the automatic warning calls made through the system, the city will first issue official notices, and if violations persist without correction, it plans to enhance the effectiveness of enforcement by concurrently imposing strong administrative measures such as fines on habitual offenders.
