Gyeonggi Province to Join Government "Quantum Cluster Planning Study" Public Call
Gyeonggi Province will participate in the public call for the "Quantum Cluster Planning Study" promoted by the Ministry of Science and ICT and the National Information Society Agency.
Quantum technology is regarded as a "game changer" that will drive structural changes in industries such as defense, finance, and healthcare.
If selected in this public call, Gyeonggi Province plans to concentrate its administrative capacity on completing the planning study, drawing up the final development plan in May this year, and aiming for the government's final designation and notification of the quantum cluster in July.
Gyeonggi Province has taken the lead in the quantum transition of advanced industries by promoting a demonstration project that applies quantum cryptographic communication to the "Panta G Bus," an autonomous vehicle in actual operation, for the first time in the country. Through the establishment of this quantum cluster, the province expects to further accelerate the pace of this transition.
This public call project is a planning study designed to preemptively identify and secure the technological, industrial, and governance foundations of the central government and local governments before the full-scale implementation of the quantum cluster project.
