Korea Investment & Securities Launches Third IMA Product, Subscription Opens Tomorrow
On February 11, Korea Investment & Securities announced that it has launched its third Integrated Managed Account (IMA) product, "Korea Investment IMA S3," and will be taking subscriptions from February 12 to 24.
An IMA is a performance-linked product with a principal payment obligation, in which a securities firm pools client deposits and invests them in corporate finance assets and other instruments, then allocates returns according to management performance. The newly launched "Korea Investment IMA S3" is designed as a closed-end structure with a two-year maturity, and the target subscription size is around 300 billion won. The minimum subscription amount is 1 million won.
Since being jointly designated in December last year as the first IMA operator in Korea, Korea Investment & Securities has raised about 1.8 trillion won through two rounds of product offerings. This product will also be managed mainly in relatively low-volatility corporate finance assets such as domestic acquisition finance and corporate loans. Based on its investment banking capabilities, the firm will prioritize the stable management of principal while seeking excess returns over market interest rates. In addition, it will employ a diversification strategy into alternative investment assets that are difficult for ordinary retail investors to access directly.
The company will also run an investment promotion for branch and Bankis customers. Branch customers will receive coffee coupons and mobile gift certificates depending on their investment amount, and there will be a prize draw event for high-balance investors offering items such as massage devices and Apple AirPods Max. Furthermore, new customers of Korea Investment & Securities who sign up for at least 1 million won in IMA S3 during the February subscription period will receive Starbucks mobile gift certificates according to their subscription amount.
For Bankis customers, the company will run first-come-first-served, lottery, and subscription events that provide coffee coupons and cash depending on the subscription amount. By participating in multiple events, each person can receive up to 130,000 won in cash and coffee coupon benefits.
A Korea Investment & Securities representative said, "The recent inflow of funds into IMA products shows that clients recognize IMAs as a highly reliable investment vehicle that can be used for medium- to long-term asset management," adding, "We will diversify maturity structures and asset allocations to provide clients with steady investment opportunities, while gradually expanding our product lineup in line with market demand and the investment environment."
