Its purpose is for a public institution to build a cooperative system with a private organization specializing in improving residential environments, thereby enhancing housing stability and quality of life for veterans and their bereaved families, including persons of national merit and their families, and spreading a culture of mutual growth and respect.
Under the agreement, the two organizations agreed to cooperate in: identifying households with vulnerable living conditions, including the bereaved families of independence activists; jointly supporting improvements to the residential environments of national veterans; and co-hosting campaigns to promote veterans culture on occasions such as Independence Movement Day (March 1), Patriots and Veterans Month (June), and Liberation Day (August 15).
Habitat Korea is an international non-profit housing welfare organization that began in the United States in 1976. Under the vision of "a world where everyone has a decent home," it works to bring about community change and restore healthy communities through housing. In Korea, Habitat Korea is carrying out not only housing improvement projects, but also a variety of participatory veterans campaigns such as the March 1 Run, the June 6 Walk, and the August 15 Run.
Yun Jongjin, chairman of the Corporation, said, "This agreement will serve as an opportunity to provide more thorough support for housing stability to those who devoted themselves to the nation," adding, "We will work with our partner organizations to expand a sustainable support system so that it leads to tangible changes on the ground."
In response, Yun Hyeongju, chairman of Habitat Korea, said, "We attach great significance to this collaboration with the Corporation and will actively contribute, together with the Corporation, to spreading veterans culture through improvements to the residential environment."
