Region-Based Delivery Brokerage Service "Kkorreuk" Launches in Daejeon
-Consumers can earn up to 4.6% back and a virtuous-cycle model for the local economy is presented
The local delivery brokerage service "Kkorreuk," based in Daejeon Metropolitan City, has officially launched its service in the Daejeon area. Kkorreuk puts forward as its core direction a structure in which the revenue generated in the course of using its delivery service circulates within the Daejeon region, emphasizing a virtuous-cycle model for the local economy.
Kkorreuk does not claim to be a delivery brokerage service that always offers the lowest fees. According to the company, its brokerage commission rate is not particularly low compared with the market average when viewed in isolation, but the overall structure is designed so that, compared to large delivery brokerage platforms, the burden on users is relatively lighter.
In the existing delivery brokerage market, there has been ongoing criticism that headquarters or key operators are often located in Seoul and the greater metropolitan area, or overseas, creating a structure in which the sales and commissions generated in local areas are transferred outside those regions. Because of this, there have also been concerns that local consumption does not readily translate into revitalization of the local economy.
In contrast to this structure, Kkorreuk operates as a delivery brokerage service centered on the Daejeon area, running its service based on collaboration with franchise merchants, delivery workers, and local operating staff. The company explained that it aims for a structure in which the costs and profits generated in the delivery process are not concentrated outside the region, but instead are reconnected to Daejeon’s commercial districts and jobs.
For small business owners in Daejeon, observers say the service is meaningful not simply in terms of offering the "lowest commission," but because it allows them to expect both a more reasonable cost structure compared with large brokerage platforms and an inflow of local customers. Delivery workers are also intended to benefit from an efficient work environment through a dispatch system centered on the local area.
Consumers receive benefits as well. Consumers using Kkorreuk can earn rewards of up to 4.6% of the order amount. This policy is intended to lower the perceived cost of using delivery brokerage services and to encourage repeated consumption within the local area.
A Kkorreuk representative stated, "Rather than claiming that our fees are simply the cheapest, our distinguishing feature is that we maintain a reasonable structure compared with large brokerage platforms while designing the service so that profits circulate within the region," adding, "Our goal is to create a structure in which consumption that occurs in Daejeon returns to Daejeon’s commercial districts and local workers."
With the launch in Daejeon, Kkorreuk plans to focus on expanding local franchise merchants and stabilizing its service. Going forward, the company also intends to gradually introduce additional benefit policies linked with small business owners in Daejeon, as well as consumer participation programs.
