The Gumi City Council of Women's Organizations in North Gyeongsang Province held the inauguration ceremony for its 22nd president and a New Year’s gathering at Hotel Geumosan on the 3rd, with about 200 people in attendance, including members from 16 women’s organizations.
The event was organized to celebrate the departure of outgoing President Shin Kyeongeun of the 20th and 21st councils, who has devoted the past four years to promoting women’s rights and revitalizing the organization, and the inauguration of incoming President Kim Hyungmi, who will lead the 22nd council. Marking the New Year of 2026, participants reaffirmed the meaning of solidarity as they pledged harmony and cooperation among women’s organizations.
To commemorate her inauguration, new President Kim Hyungmi donated 10 million won to a scholarship fund to foster future talent in Gumi. She then used the New Year’s gathering to share the council’s future direction under the keywords “Leap, Communication, and Harmony,” emphasizing women’s leadership that can respond to a changing era.

Gumi Mayor Kim Jangho said, “I hope that the newly launched 22nd Gumi City Council of Women’s Organizations will serve as a central force representing women’s voices at the heart of change for Gumi’s development.”
President Kim Hyungmi has served as head of the Gumi City chapter of the Korean Women’s Association and has contributed to strengthening women’s capacities and expanding their social participation through a wide range of volunteer activities. The local community expects that, through her warm communication and responsible leadership, she will foster cooperation and growth among organizations.

Meanwhile, since its establishment in 1989, the Gumi City Council of Women's Organizations has grown to include 16 member organizations and 8,356 members. Through a wide range of programs, including women’s empowerment projects, a “Childcare Daddy” photo contest, low birthrate countermeasure initiatives, and community volunteer work, the council has been working to expand women’s social participation and promote their rights and interests.
