Chungnam to Provide 100,000 Won Heating Cost Support to 70,000 Vulnerable Households
Disaster Relief Fund Fully Financed by the Province
Direct Payment to Accounts Without Separate Application
With rising energy prices and a cold wave increasing the burden of heating costs, the Chungnam provincial government will provide heating cost support to approximately 70,000 vulnerable households.
The province will allocate 7.3 billion won from the disaster relief fund, providing 100,000 won per household, and will expedite the disbursement without a separate application process.
On February 3, the provincial government announced that it would allocate 7.343 billion won from the disaster relief fund to alleviate the winter heating cost burden for vulnerable groups struggling with higher energy costs.
The beneficiaries are 73,430 households receiving basic livelihood, medical, housing, or educational benefits under the National Basic Livelihood Security Program as of January 6. Each household will receive 100,000 won, which will be deposited directly into the beneficiary (household head)'s account without a separate application.
However, those deemed to have low effectiveness from heating cost support, such as facility residents or single-person households who are hospitalized long-term, may be excluded from the program at the discretion of city or county officials.
Since 2023, the province has been funding the disaster relief fund entirely from its own budget to continue heating cost support.
The scale of support has been as follows: 66,615 households (6.6615 billion won) in 2023; 65,740 households (6.574 billion won) in 2024; and 67,513 households (6.7513 billion won) in 2025.
The provincial government explained that it has completed consultations with cities and counties regarding beneficiary verification and payment procedures to ensure prompt disbursement.
