Gangwon Province Holds Awards Ceremony for Best Practices and Public Official Proposals Addressing Population Decline
A Total of Seven Outstanding Departments and Public Officials Honored, Including Provincial Offices, Cities and Counties, and Public Official Proposals
On December 26, Gangwon Special Self-Governing Province announced that it had held the "2025 Population Decline Response Best Practices and Public Officials Proposal Evaluation Awards Ceremony" to encourage departments and public officials who contributed to overcoming the population decline crisis and to spread outstanding policies.

View original imageAt this awards ceremony, a total of seven departments and public officials were honored, including two provincial offices, three cities and counties within the province, and two public officials for their proposals.
The Agricultural Policy Division received the top prize for actively implementing policies to help young people settle in agriculture, such as supporting young returnees to farming and rural areas, attracting rural student exchange students, and fostering smart farms.
The Architecture Division was awarded the excellence prize for contributing to improving residential conditions by establishing a comprehensive plan for vacant house maintenance and proposing utilization plans such as remodeling, and creating parking lots, parks, and community gardens.
Hwacheon County won the top prize in the city and county category for promoting the creation of child-rearing-friendly villages, including rental and public housing for newlyweds and the establishment of complex community villages in border areas.
Samcheok City received the excellence prize for its "Sportscation" initiative, which combines vacation, education, and convention, while Pyeongchang County was recognized for advancing home medical services by securing eight medical specialists and providing monthly doctor visits and bi-monthly nurse visits to medically underserved areas.
For public official proposals, Kim Mijin, an official from Hongcheon County, received the top prize for suggesting a "return home accompaniment service," which assigns vehicles and nursing staff to mothers and newborns returning home after giving birth or postpartum care in other regions due to the absence of local obstetric departments. Kim Manhee, an official at the Provincial Wildfire Prevention Center, was awarded the excellence prize for proposing a one-stop administrative service that simplifies procedures, including online processing, and provides integrated life-cycle support and treatment assistance for couples experiencing infertility.
The selected departments and public officials received commendations and prizes from the Governor.
