On December 23, Yangju City in Gyeonggi Province held an on-site executive meeting at the national forest in Deokgye-dong (covering an area of 49,910 square meters) owned by the Korea Forest Service. The meeting was presided over by Yangju Mayor Kang Suhyeon and attended by 20 senior city officials, during which they discussed plans for acquiring the national forest through an exchange with the Korea Forest Service.

The city is seeking a reasonable approach to utilizing this area by coordinating with relevant agencies, recognizing its strategic importance for urban expansion and balanced development.
At the site, Mayor Kang Suhyeon stated, "We must consider the national forest not just as an object of preservation, but also as a public asset that can enhance the quality of life for citizens." She urged, "Carefully review measures to revitalize urban forests and address citizen inconveniences through close cooperation with relevant agencies."
Yangju City expects that the revitalization of the urban forest will help achieve various public objectives, including securing urban infrastructure, creating leisure spaces for citizens, and conserving ecological and environmental resources.
