Ongoing Talks to Address Complaints Over Temporary Towers and Underground High-Voltage Lines
A working-level meeting was held to promote the underground installation of power transmission lines in the Hupyeong-dong area of Chuncheon City, Gangwon Province.
Chuncheon City recently held a working meeting with Korea Electric Power Corporation to resolve issues related to undergrounding the transmission lines in Hupyeong-dong.
During the meeting, participants discussed ways to adjust part of the underground transmission line route in the Hupyeong-dong area to address public complaints, in connection with the planned power tunnel construction by Korea Electric Power Corporation between Namchuncheon Substation and Chuncheon Substation. Opinions were also exchanged on route adjustments and construction methods to maximize the benefits of underground installation.
Since May, the city has been in discussions with apartment project developers and Korea Electric Power Corporation to resolve complaints regarding temporary transmission towers installed between Hupyeong-dong and Dong-myeon, as well as to carry out the undergrounding of high-voltage transmission lines.

An official from Chuncheon City stated, "The underground installation of transmission lines is a long-standing issue the city has been seeking to resolve," adding, "We will continue to work closely with apartment project developers and Korea Electric Power Corporation to ensure that the construction is carried out in a rational and efficient manner."
