National Library for Children and Young Adults to Support Picture Book Authors in Creation and Publishing
20 Authors to Be Selected and Supported
The National Library for Children and Young Adults announced on December 22, 2025, that it is recruiting picture book authors to participate in the third cohort of the "And Picture Books" program in 2026.
"And Picture Books" is a picture book creation and publishing support program that selects 20 authors and provides tailored assistance. Selected authors will receive support including access to the nation's largest children's and young adults' collections, workshops and expert mentoring to strengthen creative capabilities, production and promotion of dummy books, and use of creative spaces equipped with professional equipment. Eligible applicants are authors within five years of publishing their first picture book.

A representative from the National Library for Children and Young Adults stated, "In 2025, 12 authors achieved the milestone of signing publishing contracts," adding, "We hope that in 2026, even more emerging authors will expand the possibilities of their creative work."
