Gwangju City Immediately Activates Regional Disaster Headquarters in Response to Gwangju Representative Library Accident

Regarding the accident at the Gwangju Representative Library in Seo-gu, Gwangju Metropolitan City (Mayor Kang Gijung), a field meeting was held and the Regional Disaster and Safety Countermeasures Headquarters was activated.

Attendees at the headquarters included Kang Gijung, Mayor of Gwangju Metropolitan City; Ko Gwangwan, Deputy Mayor for Administrative Affairs; Kim Junyoung, Director of the Citizens' Safety Office; and Kim Ikang, Mayor of Seo-gu.

Mayor Kang instructed officials to make every effort to ensure the safe and swift rescue of those involved. He also discussed the need to deploy additional equipment such as cranes for the rescue operation, and directed that prompt cooperation and immediate contact with the families of those trapped be carried out.
