Busan Urban Corporation Receives "Compliant" in ISO 45001 Renewal Audit, Maintains International Standard Occupational Health and Safety Management System
Busan Urban Corporation (BMC, President Shin Changho) announced on December 11 that it received a "compliant" rating in the ISO 45001 renewal audit conducted on December 8-9, thereby continuing to maintain its international standard occupational health and safety management system.
ISO 45001 is an international standard designed to systematically manage occupational health and safety risks and prevent industrial accidents. It comprehensively evaluates an organization's establishment, implementation, and improvement of its occupational health and safety management system.
Since obtaining its initial ISO 45001 certification in 2019, Busan Urban Corporation has undergone annual audits to verify the suitability and operational effectiveness of its occupational health and safety management system. In this latest renewal audit, the corporation was once again recognized for its ongoing improvement activities and the adequacy of its management system across all categories, reaffirming that its safety management practices meet international standards.
During the audit process, in-depth interviews were conducted with the CEO, the head of the safety management office, and managers from the Facility Regeneration Department, Asset Management Department, and Complex Project Department, providing a comprehensive review of the operation of each department's occupational health and safety management system. Additionally, an on-site inspection at the Eco Delta City 24BL site assessed the effectiveness and implementation of risk assessments, safety management plans, and disaster and emergency response systems.
According to the audit report, the corporation received high marks for the systematic establishment and implementation of its occupational health and safety policies and objectives; regular compliance evaluations regarding laws and other requirements; risk assessments and management of corrective actions across all worksites; and executive-led reviews of occupational health and safety activities, reflecting excellence in overall system operation. The corporation also plans to further strengthen its continuous improvement activities based on the PDCA (Plan-Do-Check-Act) cycle by re-examining the on-site application of the improvement recommendations raised during the audit.
