The event took place at the Busan Industry-Academia Convergence Institute Campus Hall.
The ceremony brought together over 50 representatives from a total of 18 organizations, including Silla University, the Busan Industry-Academia Convergence Institute, the Busan Parts and Materials Business Association, and other local industry groups, to celebrate the launch of the council.
The launch event began with a welcoming address by Vice President Lee Beomjin of Silla University and congratulatory remarks by Director Gil Kyungseok of the Busan Industry-Academia Convergence Institute. This was followed by a signing ceremony, presentations of outstanding cases in various fields of industry-academia cooperation, and networking and discussion sessions.
With this launch, the council will serve as a central platform for joint education, research, talent development, and technology commercialization based on the needs of local industries.
In particular, the council is significant as it jointly declared the basic direction of Open-UIC-based industry-academia cooperation within the RISE system and established a practical starting point for cooperation by formulating mid- to long-term joint development plans among participating organizations. This is expected to accelerate the creation of a virtuous cycle that organically links the university’s educational and research capabilities with the on-site demands of local industries, thereby fostering regional innovation talent in a stable manner.
During the presentations of outstanding cases that followed the launch ceremony, Silla University’s departments shared their achievements in industry-academia cooperation, focusing on Busan’s strategic industries such as future mobility, bio-health, and lifestyle, drawing significant interest from attendees.
Hwang Inju, Head of the Silla University RISE Project Group, stated, "The Silla University RISE Industry-Academia Cooperation Council is a practical cooperation platform that unites the university’s education, research, and industry-academia cooperation capabilities around the needs of local industries. The council will play a key role in creating a regional innovation model where industries and universities grow together."
