Gyeonggi Province to Invest 7.3933 Trillion Won in 119 Human Rights Projects by 2030
Gyeonggi Province will invest a total of 7.3933 trillion won in 119 human rights projects by 2030.
On December 10, Gyeonggi Province held a proclamation ceremony for the "3rd Basic Plan for the Guarantee and Promotion of Human Rights in Gyeonggi Province" at the main auditorium of the Gyeonggi Credit Guarantee Foundation in Gwanggyo, Suwon, to commemorate the 77th anniversary of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights. During the event, the province shared its blueprint for human rights policies to be implemented over the next five years with its residents.
The basic plan is designed around four core values: coexistence, equality, respect, and inclusion. The budget for the 119 detailed projects amounts to 7.3993 trillion won.
In the area of "Creating an Environment for Human Rights Protection by Rights Holders," Gyeonggi Province will implement projects such as operating shelters for abused children, strengthening customized care for vulnerable seniors, advancing joint response systems for violence against women and domestic violence, expanding support for the general employment of people with disabilities, enhancing support for the protection of migrants' human rights, operating care and counseling centers for North Korean defectors, and running a support center for victims of the Seongam Academy incident.
Additionally, in the area of "Creating an Inclusive Society Where Basic Rights Are Realized in Daily Life," the province will expand support for independent housing for people with disabilities, operate mobile care and medical centers, run labor safety guard programs, increase the introduction of low-floor buses, and implement climate action opportunity income initiatives.
To "Create a Human Rights-Friendly Community," the province will promote universal care, improve the treatment of childcare teachers, bridge the information gap for information-vulnerable groups, and strengthen the resident participation budget system.

Gyeonggi Province actively reflected residents' opinions in the planning process through surveys, in-depth interviews, resident human rights roundtables, and public hearings.
At the proclamation ceremony, Ko Youngin, Vice Governor for Economic Affairs of Gyeonggi Province, stated, "Gyeonggi Province will make human rights a universal standard throughout provincial administration and do its utmost to ensure that children and adolescents, youth and seniors, women and people with disabilities, migrants and North Korean defectors, and all residents can enjoy dignity and value as human beings." He added, "We hereby proclaim the launch of the '3rd Basic Plan for the Guarantee and Promotion of Human Rights in Gyeonggi Province.'"
