Kakao Pay: "Wedding Gift Money Surpasses 100,000 Won for the First Time This Year"
From 50,000 Won in 2019 to 100,000 Won in Five Years
Annual Remittance Data Revealed in the "2025 Money Report"
For the first time this year, the average wedding gift money transferred by consumers has surpassed 100,000 won.
On December 10, Kakao Pay released its "2025 Money Report," based on a year’s worth of remittance data.
The report revealed this year’s trends in wedding gift money, the average number of monthly remittances, the days with the most settlements, and the results of the busiest open chat remittance rooms.
According to the report, the average amount transferred using wedding gift envelopes surpassed 100,000 won for the first time this year. This marks a twofold increase in five years, compared to 50,000 won in 2019.
The number of KakaoTalk friend-to-friend transfers in a single day reached 1.4 million. On average, users sent or received remittances eight times per month.
For settlements, usage was highest on Sundays, followed by Fridays and Mondays. On average, all settlements were completed within 8 hours and 29 minutes after a request was made.
The personalized remittance report was designed to give users an at-a-glance overview of their Kakao Pay Money usage this year.
It provides not only figures such as the individual’s annual remittance amount and total remittance fees saved over the year, but also analysis of various relationships reflected in the remittance records.
For example, the "Closest Friend of the Year" analysis identifies the friend who sent the largest amount to the user, the friend who sent money for the first time this year, the friend who settled up the fastest, and the friend who most frequently expressed their feelings through gift envelopes.
In the "Best Chemistry Friend of the Year" category, users can see the friend they sent money to most often and the friend who sent them money most often. The "Friends Who Had Good News This Year" section shows friends to whom the user sent congratulatory or celebratory gift envelopes.
Additionally, users can humorously discover their remittance habits through 16 different "Money Jjo" types, represented by the character Jjorudi. Based on actual remittance data, the service shows which Money Jjo type the user most closely resembles, allowing users to intuitively understand their unique remittance style through characters, beyond just numbers and graphs.
Kakao Pay is running the "Lucky Pouch Promotion" until December 19, giving away Kakao Pay Points as year-end gifts.
During the event, users who visit the Kakao Pay application and open a lucky pouch will receive a random Kakao Pay Point prize, with a 100% chance of winning once daily, up to a maximum of 5,000 points.
