A Moment to Capture a Miniature Forest:
Wellness Five Senses Terrarium
Donghae City in Gangwon Province announced on December 10, 2025, that it will launch a new moss-based experiential program, "Creating Mureung Healing Forest: Wellness Five Senses Terrarium," in 2026.
This program is a companion plant-themed experience developed through joint consulting with the Korea Tourism Organization and the Korea Management Certification Institute, and was completed in collaboration with Wellness Spa & Institute. Three pilot sessions were conducted for local institutions through last month. After incorporating feedback for improvement, the program will be finalized by the end of this month and officially launched next year.
The "Moss Terrarium" is an indoor mini-garden that creates a small ecosystem in a transparent container using moss, small plants, soil, and pebbles. It has gained attention for its significant wellness benefits, including air purification, psychological stability, and restoration of vitality.
Meanwhile, Mureung Health Forest in Donghae was re-designated as an Excellent Wellness Institution for 2024-2025. It has received positive reviews from visitors by operating 18 types of eco-friendly experiential programs, with participation from 2,662 people across 92 organizations nationwide. The city is continuing its efforts to develop diverse programs and enhance services in pursuit of re-designation as an Excellent Wellness Tourism Destination for 2026-2027.
